ABOUT AIDA BARADARI
Aida Baradari is the Founder and CEO of Deveillance. She is a Harvard Physics graduate and has worked at research institutions such as CERN and Harvard’s Nanoscale Optics Lab. She previously co-founded the Augmentation Lab, an independent R&D lab building human-centered technologies. Motivated by the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and discourse, she has organized events to bring local activists, artists, and technologists together to nurture more responsible tech development.
ABOUT DEVEILLANCE
In the age of AI transcribers and smart devices, Deveillance builds tools to prevent the unwanted collection and misuse of data. Spectre I, their first product, is a portable device to protect customers from unwanted audio recordings. Designed for individuals and organizations that want a say in how their conversations are captured, Spectre I will detect nearby recording devices and conduct AI-powered audio masking to help customers become inaudible with one click. They’re also developing software that blocks AI transcriptions during online meetings, giving participants greater control over how their words are used.
